Scotland's Countryside Festival at Glamis Castle

The Countryside Festival is a celebration of rural traditions as well as a variety of entertaining arena displays guaranteed to keep the whole family fascinated.

You'll have a spectacular day out at our festival. Glamis Castle is an amazing setting for an event such as the Countryside Festival, with it's beautiful parklands, and atmospheric castle. Just have a wander round. It's something special!

Around the festival, for the horse lovers, we have Clydesdale horses, the Devil's Horsemen stables, and prize winning farrier James Balfour will be demonstrating farriery.

There's an excellent display of rare breed hens and poultry, with Mitchel and Jill, who are experts in their field, and you can buy hens and eggs there too!

The East of Scotland Beekeepers will have a beekeeping display with open hive, and lots of information about beekeeping in Scotland.

Within the foodhall are demonstrations by Nick Nairn, Graeme Pallister (Saturday Only) Nichola Fletcher and Tom Mitchell of Puddledub Pork.

For the dog lovers, we have main ring terrier racing, a dog scurry with prizes to be won, and a children's "for fun" dog show with prizes too.

Angus Council Rangers are running nature foraging expeditions through the grounds of Glamis Castle on Sunday, and have a display tent with minibeasts on show!

There are a lot of crafts represented at the festival, as well as the two craft marquees. You can see demonstrations of spinning and weaving throughout the event in the craft hall.

You can try "have a go" at clay pigeon shooting, or shooting with air rifles, fly tying, mini quads, archery, paintball, and axe throwing. There are also face painting and story telling sessions which are not to be missed.

Many of our shops coming to the festival are offering special discounts. We have two craft marquees and over 300 shops selling a wide variety of goods. We also have a food marquee, where you can put together a picnic, or just taste something different.

Don't miss the the vintage vehicles, and if you see a few strolling ferrets, say hello, and think about bringing your own next year for the racing.
